The true essence of Lake Balaton –
Tranquility - Nature - Mindfulness

Half a Century in the Heartbeat of Lake Balaton

Siamia Balaton is more than just a place to stay – it’s an experience that leads you into the vibrant world of Lake Balaton. In the 1970s and 1980s, the building was filled with East and West German guests from spring to autumn, with full occupancy throughout the summer. The once-popular wine cellar has since been transformed into an exclusive private spa, offering guests a serene space to recharge. Csopak wines remain a beloved companion to summer cooking and outdoor gatherings.

As a family-run business, we’ve been offering authentic yet refreshing experiences for over fifty years: our original retro furniture, spotless interiors, and personal hospitality blend the charm of the past with the mindfulness of the present.

For us, Balaton isn’t about silence – it’s about lively summer evenings, the rhythm of lakeside strolls, the flavors of nearby taverns and restaurants, and the pulse of nature. We offer all this while making space for true relaxation: our rooms have no television, no smoking, no pet hair – but plenty of calm, cleanliness, and environmental awareness.

Many travelers find that staying in large hotels or crowded accommodations often comes with compromises: smoke-filled air, screen noise, allergens, pets, or irritation from machine-washed textiles. At Siamia Balaton, these issues simply don’t arise. We are entirely smoke-free – with no designated smoking areas – so our guests never have to suffer the consequences of others’ habits. Our screen-free rooms support mental relaxation, and our pet-free guest policy ensures that those with skin or respiratory sensitivities can rest easy. All textiles are washed with hypoallergenic detergents and dried naturally in fresh air – close to nature and far from machines – protecting both the environment and our guests’ comfort.

Siamia Rooms & Spa – A Boutique Time Travel with a Real Experience

Siamia Rooms & Spa is not just a place to stay – it is a sensual journey through time, where guests can experience the premium worlds of past and present in one boutique setting.

Boutique Rooms – The Stories of 1969 Encased in Real Wood

Our rooms feature original Heczendorfer furniture from 1969 – crafted from real wood, with unique designs, authentic wood patterns, and mostly period-correct upholstery, some with new protective covers or refreshed finishes. These pieces are more than preserved objects – they are storytellers, carrying the spirit of vibrant Balaton summers and the calm of silent winters, like the still reflection of the frozen lake.

The furniture was designed by László Heczendorfer, one of the leading designers of his era, whose works gained European recognition. Today, his pieces can also be admired at the Hungarian Open-Air Ethnographic Museum, as icons of Hungarian applied art.

The interior of Siamia Rooms is not just vintage – it is a heritage of design, reborn in a boutique environment.

Modern Spa – The Luxury of the Present in a Private Space

After the boutique interiors, guests step into the present – into the world of Siamia Spa. Here, modern elegance meets exclusive wellness: a custom-made sauna with unique infrared panels and an intimate, boutique-sized design. The sauna combines infrared and traditional elements, allowing guests to enjoy deep heat therapy and the classic regenerating experience at once. The minimalist design and private atmosphere open a new dimension of tranquility.

Real wood. Real stories. Real experience.

Guests at Siamia Rooms & Spa don’t just relax – they experience. In a single day, they can live both the vintage mood and the modern luxury, as if moving through two timelines, yet within one harmonious boutique world.

Why Does Siamia Exist?

Siamia Rooms & Spa was created to offer a place where silence heals, time slows down, and every guest can truly arrive. A place where intimacy is not a luxury, but a core experience — the private spa, the exclusive wellness designed for women, and the consciously smoke-free and pet-free environment all serve one purpose: that guests may rest in true safety, purity, and peace.

Here, you don’t just stay — you find home.

What Makes Us Different?

We don’t compete in square meters, but in memories. For us, luxury is not the private bathroom, but the attention, cleanliness, serenity, and emotional safety we offer.

There is no television in our rooms — this is not a lack, but a conscious choice. Digital detox here is not a trend, but a lifestyle. Guests can truly disconnect, slow down, and reconnect with themselves, nature, and the moment.

Who Are Our Guests?

Those who don’t rush through holidays but seek to arrive.
Those who value digital detox, the intimacy of a women’s spa, the vintage Balaton charm, and genuine human connection.

Our Core Values

  • 100% smoke-free and pet-hair-free environment

  • Boutique care and personal attention

  • Long-stay, relationship-based guest experiences

  • Exclusive spa experiences for women

  • Artisan, local touches: wine, grill, and silence

  • Digital detox: TV-free rooms, authentic relaxation

Ambience and Environment

The atmosphere of Siamia is both calm and alive. From the garden, the passing trains bring a rhythmic energy — a slightly louder, yet life-filled background that is part of the true Balaton summer. This subtle sound is not disturbing, but a reminder: life is happening here; summer is alive.

The shared bathroom area is not a compromise, but a conscious design choice. It evokes the mood of old Balaton guesthouses, where community, simplicity, and genuine human connection were natural parts of relaxation.

The Future We’re Building

A Balaton where boutique hospitality is not the exception, but the example.
Where guests are not crowds, but stories.
Where tranquility is not a compromise, but a choice.

Our Philosophy

Siamia is not a premium accommodation — it is a premium experience destination.
Those who return are no longer guests, but members of the Siamia family.
Because for us, exclusivity is not luxury — it is trust.

Siamia Rooms & Spa – where silence is value, time is a gift, and every guest is a story.

Harvesters of Remembrance

…Lake Balaton is not only water, but memory itself. In Kenese, every guest becomes part of a timeless story, where the echoes of past summers mingle with the silence of winters. Inspired by Krúdy’s “Heart-Fishers of Lake Balaton,” these lines invite you into a world where nostalgia and renewal flow together like waves upon the shore…

Harvesters of Remembrance

Inspired by Krúdy’s “Heart-Fishers of Lake Balaton”

They are the Harvesters of Remembrance – returning guests who, time and again, arrive in Kenese to summon back the secrets of summers long past.

The former student, who once awaited his first love upon the steps of the strand, now a father, still hears youthful laughter in every ripple of the waves.
The woman, who beneath the silver light of the full moon guards a confession never fulfilled, now finds its echo in the tolling of the church bells.
The old man, who as a child played in the shadow of the Tatár-lik, now leads his grandchildren there, showing them that the past does not vanish – it merely transforms.

And there were those evenings when the village hall or the lakeside pavilion hosted balls and dances. The orchestra played slow waltzes and fiery csárdás, and the hearts of the young beat in rhythm with the music. Later, beneath the shimmering lights of summer discos, new loves were born, secret kisses exchanged, and friendships woven that sometimes endured for a lifetime. The waves themselves seemed to dance to the melodies, while the silver of the moonlight recalled the glow of the parquet floor.

In winter, smoke rose slowly from the chimneys, spreading across the valley, and the Harvesters of Remembrance found peace in the silence. In summer, the hum of fishermen drifted from the small valley, mingling with the laughter of bathers – and once again, the Harvesters relived the fragrance of youth and the intoxication of summers past.

The eastern basin at dawn is born from rose‑colored mists, at dusk it dresses itself in crimson, and at night the silver of the full moon caresses the water’s surface. The lake is not merely water, but a mirror in which the Harvesters of Remembrance see their own past reflected.

And whoever arrives here, even for a single day, becomes a Harvester of Remembrance. Their steps inscribe themselves into the dusty streets, their gaze joins with the church towers, and their heart for a moment becomes one with the lake.
For in Kenese, every guest becomes part of that timeless transformation, from dawn to dusk, from dusk to night, which again and again gives birth to the eternal story of Lake Balaton.
